How to make friends?

I am the type of person who hangs out with a small group of people. I prefer this because I really like knowing people well. I also am a shy person at first. I am a sarcastic, weird, and awkward person.( aren't we all though-really?)So I am scared usually at first if people will be open to me and how I am.

My problem: I don't know how to make friends.

I feel like in high school I was friends with many people and then my best friends kind of just fell into place with what I was doing in my life. Alicia with the plays and Caitlyn for some reason in chorus during sixth grade. Then college you live with a bunch of people and you kind of just sort out who because your friends based on that.

But now it is just me and Case in Pittsburgh and I am not sure how to start that close group of people from scratch. There are friends that I have in school but clearly schools not in session and there's some time before that happens and by god I want to make a friend or two before then! I am starting to go out more. Like this friday I am going to an art show (by myself) and I might nearly shart myself from awkwardness but maybe I will meet someone? Or let's be real I may just be quiet the entire time and look at the art like I know what it all means and be really philosophical looking? (I'll even wear black- lolz).

So how have you guys done it? Moved to a new city and made friends. It is all a little daunting.
Hopefully things only go up.
But for now I am going to talk to someone new this week.
Ash.

A weekend with my best friends.

You know when you have met those people in your life who just get you? Those people are Alicia and Caitlyn in my life. No matter what I am doing and where I am I can call them up and have the funniest, happiest conversation ever. We all can be extremely lazy and hang out on the couch all day but it still can be the best time ever. I absolutely hate being away from them this summer but next summer I surely will be with them no matter what. I don't care we will be hanging out being the best buds we can be and everything will be happy, chummy, and cheery. Thank god for them and my hometown for bringing us together because I am not so sure what I would do without them. Love you guys!
How have your best friends impacted your life?

And now pictures from the weekend!

We explored the neighborhood in Oakland where the University of Pittsburgh is located. I absolutely love it there! We went to dinner at the Union Grille which is AMAZING. The best burger I have had in Pittsburgh ever. Then we walked to The Cathedral of Learning which was actually like being in a Harry Potter film. I would say it was very Chamber of Secrets in there. It was very adventurous of us, I loved every second of it. Then we stopped by a used book shop and it had the loveliest smell of books and really cool old records. Afterwards we went to the culture shop which has a few locations here around the burgh. It has cheap things like funky jewelry and candles, very cool shop! And now its back to the work week. The glory of being a working college girl. I miss my family and best friends a lot now. Cant wait to see everyone again very soon.
Hope you all had a good weekend and now an even better week!

p.s. Shout out to my other best friend Paige who reads all my blog posts -I LOVE YOU. ;)

My bedroom!

Hello all beautiful people. Today I decided whats more fun than being home? Having other people look at pictures of your home...? haha but today I wanted you all to see my bedroom and maybe others can get inspired or say its completely awful! I think I went for homey and some pops of blue. There wasn't much of a theme besides that and if you liked this then maybe a new apartment tour?! Ooo how fancy to be old with an apartment.

Where I bought some of my bedroom items:
Decorative pieces such as glassware, owl figurine, and little blue bird: from Michaels
Francesca's is where i got the cat sign and the chevron sign on my wall!
Bookcase was thrifted and painted a light blue.
All frames were bought from Target .

Hope you enjoyed!

Here.

So it's been almost two weeks! Me living in an apartment with my roommate. Just us agains the world.
It actually has been pretty eye opening for what my parents have to go through on a daily basis and holy crap I am sorry for not cleaning up around the house or putting my stuff away when asked. I work all day until five usually and coming home to clean the house, do the dishes, pack lunch, shower, and then its 11 pm... WHERE DOES TIME GO?! Is this what they meant how time decides to go rapid speed and not slow down? I am sure feeling it.
Some things I have learned this week:

  • Never underestimate the power of a good casserole. (Good job case)
  • Groceries shouldn't be so expensive. WE ALL NEED TO EAT COME ON.
  • Making new friends is difficult.
  • My bed is now cherished.
  • Bike commutes are difficult but efficient.
  • Feet hurt. Need new shoes.
  • I love my family.
  • Nothing like a good book to keep you entertained.
  • My neighborhood may be a little sketchy but I am really loving it.
  • Saw bastille. My husband will be in a band. That's all.
My sister also graduated from highschool- HOORAY TRISTA!! It was such a proud time but sadly I was stuck here and not home. I do not think I have ever regretted anything more. Stupid, stupid. Hospital systems have such a strict attendance rule. But I guess its good to learn that I cannot always go to everything. Just hard to think about.

So the boy front.... I have seen some very attractive faces around the new 'hood and the hospital. But have I had the courage to talk to any? Nope. One reason being I look like a total man turd in my hospital uniform and the other being when I am riding my bike home from work I look like a sweat ball of hair with an oversized book bag and a neon rain coat. I rest my case.

And now it is time for some pictures!

What are you all up to? Anything new?!
