The Very American Weekends.

So this is a little late… but better late than never right?!  So I had an amazing last two weekends actually! This whole living thing is getting easier and a lot more fun when friends come to visit. Pittsburgh is surely starting to make a place in my heart (as cheesy as that sounds) and I think I am starting to like it a lot.  I think the more you let something in, the more you allow yourself to like it. In the beginning of June I was not for this city really at all. But after you know accepting I am here and going to do things on my own and new things with my friends the easier it is to live here and of course the more fun it is.
So Pittsburgh, I am here and loving it right now! So, I have a lot of photos to show you guys of the past weekends and boy, was it fun.
First photos: Pirates game. The Pirates is Pittsburgh’s professional team of baseball and I enjoy a game but I think it’s the cities’ view in the stadium that really makes it the reason I go there. Who ever created this stadium- a thousand awesome points to you because it is unbelievable. I am pretty sure it is the best view you can have of the city on a really clear day. Seriously, just look below because I feel like you can then understand.  Also some of my best friends are featured!  Let me take an second to introduce to them. Nathan is the shorter of the boys with the sunglasses (we have to forgive him for those- “they are sports sunglasses Ashley” –whatever!) and then theres Donny who is the tall boy who’s recent hair change has made him think he is the best around. Foolish boys! And then there’s Cait who is my longest best friend (8 years guys!) and she’s the most hilarious person you will ever meet.

Now on to the fourth of July. Oh, America happy birthday!  Casey  (roommate) and I took it upon ourselves to have people over for the fourth and it was actually more fun than ever anticipated. I never obviously had the chance to have people over a place of mine so it was awesome. I made store bought cupcakes and it was everything I imagined. We had a great time just enjoying each other’s company. Another awesome thing we got to do was watch the fireworks off the 10th Street bridge in the southside of Pittsburgh. AMAZING. The pictures make it look like they were really far away but they were beautiful. Also, the fireworks reflected off the buildings  and the river which was probably the coolest thing to see. The perks of city life I am starting to see.

I am sure loving you Pittsburgh.

So to anyone who reads this- how has your July been?! I want to hear all about your stories and if you have a blog link it below so I can explore some of your lives.

A weekend with my best friends.

You know when you have met those people in your life who just get you? Those people are Alicia and Caitlyn in my life. No matter what I am doing and where I am I can call them up and have the funniest, happiest conversation ever. We all can be extremely lazy and hang out on the couch all day but it still can be the best time ever. I absolutely hate being away from them this summer but next summer I surely will be with them no matter what. I don't care we will be hanging out being the best buds we can be and everything will be happy, chummy, and cheery. Thank god for them and my hometown for bringing us together because I am not so sure what I would do without them. Love you guys!
How have your best friends impacted your life?

And now pictures from the weekend!

We explored the neighborhood in Oakland where the University of Pittsburgh is located. I absolutely love it there! We went to dinner at the Union Grille which is AMAZING. The best burger I have had in Pittsburgh ever. Then we walked to The Cathedral of Learning which was actually like being in a Harry Potter film. I would say it was very Chamber of Secrets in there. It was very adventurous of us, I loved every second of it. Then we stopped by a used book shop and it had the loveliest smell of books and really cool old records. Afterwards we went to the culture shop which has a few locations here around the burgh. It has cheap things like funky jewelry and candles, very cool shop! And now its back to the work week. The glory of being a working college girl. I miss my family and best friends a lot now. Cant wait to see everyone again very soon.
Hope you all had a good weekend and now an even better week!

p.s. Shout out to my other best friend Paige who reads all my blog posts -I LOVE YOU. ;)

Move in day.

So, tomorrows the day. Well, in less than 12 hours is the day. The truck and trailer are packed and now it will start the rest of the summer. I'm kind of overwhelmed with my whole transportation situation (which I am sure you will be hearing of shortly) and just being very independent. I don't really ask for comments but if you are reading this maybe some kind words or advice on being a semi-adult/ real person? So yeah super anxious and overwhelmed is an understatement. Are these normal feelings? Is moving always this stressful? Maybe I am just a basket case. Yeah probably that. I would love to hear about other people's moving adventures and how it all panned out. If anyone is reading this, thanks for listening! I promise to be back to pep and happiness in no time. Just a strange time for me now. I think I will end up missing home a lot more than I thought I would.
See you soon,
Ash

So for some reason I never truly realized the impact of a person on people and teenagers. A couple days ago I went to see John Green speak in a really overcrowded mall. This man wrote a story about two cancer teens and it really impacted me. But it all has really impacted probably about a million people. How does 335 pages do that? (total guestimation). But really. I mean John Green, he is one hell of a writer. I felt as if I was put into that story. I think, its it is his honesty and authenticity in his story telling. No teenagers are not people who "just dont understand the world yet", "invincible", "stupid", or "dont get it." They are smart, funny, and probably know a whole hell a lot about the world than you. I mean "technically" I am not a teenager anymore. However, I am close enough. I just feel they are so underestimated anymore and the reason why John Green books are so painstakingly good and better than many others is because HE GETS IT. WE are super smart, funny, and sarcastic people. How do adults forget that so easily? I mean I can see i guess how through the push of realistic items shoved down throats of people from such a young age.I.E you are 18 years old and it is time to make the decision of what you are going to be in your life. (How refreshing.) So no teenagers aren't going to know how to balance a check book but they can tell you more about that phone your holding and about their favorite author in seconds. They thrive for new ideas and get their heartbroken in the worst ways because getting your heart broken young is just fucking awful. And NEWSFLASH just because a young person doesn't have it all figured out it really okay because I am pretty sure no one on this world knows what the hell they are doing. And people need to accept that, that is truly and whole heartily fine. Just dont judge others for not knowing as well. And take a step back. The pressure put on teens today is at an all time high. Not only is college basically a requirement but molds we are creating for them are not idealistic. Its like telling a circle it is a square, it just doesn't work. So, this is basically just a ramble and me talking inside my head and putting it on a screen so I can read it back to myself.
Well all that I DO know is that John Green needs to keep on keeping on.
